dogs first seeing us.
At 50 yds it turned down
a small gully & came directly
towards us breathing hard, at
20 yards it saw me sitting
in the pass but it did not
turn back but came on again
at a lope directly towards
at 10 yards. I fired the
trigger of the 250 Savage when
it got opposite to fence
but the rifle was not cocked
before I could adjust the
hard working mechanism.
It drive forward over
down the cliff behind us.
I finally got the rifle
working & fired at leaping
shot at it but it took no
notice of that. In ten
minutes, the dogs came up
on the trail & trailed the girl
down that cliff where they layed
