"Sir Arthur Pomeroy was called on the French Consul who kindly wrote to the Foreign Commission for an audience & permit for transport to travel thru Germany. We called Turk Demire or Collins at the YMCA, where we met Mr Collins, Pilsener & a girl from Canton. 3) Called on the 7/Foreign Commission at 10 AM by appointment. He received us in French thru Yemen. He lets French but not English with him was a standard American diplomat principal. He served us champagne, cigarettes, tea biscuits & cigars. The cigar was permission to travel anywhere that supplied month & soldier's presents. We did not want these chops but could not get away from their service. Turk left with Mr Bennett. He has money the Talifor & Son Man.
