Horsepox Bralley uses X-rays
and an old oil remedy.
2G Reached Heifang Haiphong
at 1 P.M. At daylight were
off a very broken coast where
hundreds of gizzelochs could be
seen raising their fantastic
shapes. Arrived at mouth of the Red River
& steamed for an hour up the river.
The land here is a broad level
plain without mountains & the
banks are low & bright green
with grass & herbs. Forest is
not noticeable to any degree.
The river was very muddy
& brownish red by silt. When
we stopped awhile on the river
opposite the town a swarm of
boatmen with their sampans
bowed as clamoring for luggage.
We finally got into a row with
them after they had dropped
overboard a heavy box of ammunition.
This box was afterward rescued
by a strike at the cartridges dried
in the engine room.
