She was then refitted and was used as a mail and trading ship along the Greenland coast until the season of 1914 when she struck on a rock and received injuries that were too severe for local repair or to her mit taking her to European shipyard. and she was abandoned. Her mizzenmast is gone and she is otherwise much dismantled. [all photo of ss "Fox"] Cap- tain Pickels secured the end of an oak bit for the museum and several pieces of teak from her o- iginal timbers. The latter proved tery useful during the long months of our detention in the ice through fur- nishing many hours of employment
