The pastors of these churches are (21) stated to be doing good work among the Eskimos as well as the Danes. At some, if not all, settlements where there are churches the pas- tors are the teachers in the schools as well. I was told that most of the Eskimos can read and some of can write. The hulk of the steamship "Fox", vessel the famous ship in which Captain F. L. McClintock, R.N., made his successful hunt for proofs of the fate of the Sir John Franklin expedi- tion lies beached at Godhavn and is an object to interest all arctic travellers. After completing her work in the Far North, she was sold to the Danes and was used for thirty years in the transportation of cargo.
