4 April Tuesday. 183.
Still another clear, cloudless,
calm day. Brilliant weather. Light
air from N.W. on plateau.
Temp. min.-7°; 9a.+30°; 12m.+40°; 4h.+3°½h.-5°
Discovered today that box was rais-
ing 9 a.m. Temperature readings
2°. Have gone back and subtracted
that amount from each 9 a.m. read-
ing for past five days.
Went out alone to and up the
big gulch and to top of moun-
tain, where one obtains mag-
nificent view of Petoric Glacier,
Wostenholme Island, Ice Cap etc.
Many good open roads are visible;
slopes of hard marble-like snow
hard to descend safely. Bentley j
ed me down the last 20 ft to the bay ice.
Crew had this first game of baseball.
Mote quit pinochle game disgusted at the luck
of himself and partner. Absurdly childish!
