The ice is coming out of the fjord (40 in a great stream which included much ice from the glaciers, but it is tearing off to the farther side of the Sound. The wind, which moderated greatly yesterday afternoon, increased again during the evening and night- but Elc & I slept in the tent with- out untoward incident. To-day the sky has been overcast and the easterly wind has been strong (.4-5+6). Disagreeable. Wind was **8-9+ Betr 6+7 h.m. gusty. Temp. 8a.43°; 12m.43°; 4p.41°; 8h.42°. This morning two female Eider ducks followed by a& train of nine young all in close order swam past our windows, forming a pretty picture.
