Natus at Ulugset told us about fragment of ships small boat painted green or yellow which they had found in the ice within a few days & wh. is now at Kiatsik (E). Carcass of whale found buried in sand near Ulugset found this summer. Above sea level - Very old but meat still edible by the dogs - 19 Aug. Sat. Ran as far as Notchilik Point night bringing Kolbinguak with us, the idea being to climb the hills then and get idea of ice off Cape Perry - Arr. 10:35, but fog hid out in so thick that we could go no fur- ther. Hence spent quiet night at anchor. Now, 6:30 a., K. R. + Kolbinguak have gone ashore and up the hill, since the fog is lifting. 7:40 Under way, fog having lifted. Ice off Cape Perry looks bad from here ( Takes 15 - 20 minutes to free up ) Left Kolbinguak, Knud Rasmussen & my men Hmf. Ga. 37°; 2:30 p. 40°; 4p. 37°
