Hivaoa: Garrett. Ptilinopus dupetithouarsi (Néboux). (Type locality: Tahuata.) Marquesas Ids.: Jardin; Green. Hivaoa: Garrett. Nukuhiva: Gray; Townsend. Tahuata: Néboux. Serresius galeatus Bonaparte. (Type locality: Nukuhiva.) Nukuhiva: Jardin, etc. Head, neck and lower parts dark gray, darker on top of head and napc; back, wings, and tail dark shining green; under tail-coverts chestnut; feathered skin on forehead of a "saddle-like shape, cover- ing half the culmen", and whitish gray. (Abridged from Salvadori.) Bonaparte says it is confined to the west part of Nukuhiva, in the region called "Fema-taha" by the natives, and rarely penetrated by hunters. His "Fema-taha" is probably the "Hema-Ataha, or desert land" of Findlay's Directory. Jardin assured Bonaparte the bird was "plus frequent" in Tahiti, but he may have confused it with the Globi- cera auroræ or "wilkesi" of that island, though a supposed Serresius
