General Account We arrived in Hollanda shortly after noon, had lunch and the rest of the day was spent in rest and sleep. Dec 20 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea, is land. Jan 3 These days were spent in Hollanda, resting and entertaining ourselves as we each saw fit. We did however do an important lot of work, and that is the packing of 14 experiments for shipment to New York. There were 11 cases in all bound for the U.S. War Dept. and 2 for the Arnold Arboretum, Boston, Mass. Jan 3 Bundled Camp, Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea We arrived in camp this morning after some delay. Spent writing along the creek bank for the mystery to look at the scenery to left. This camp is just as it could possibly be excellent. It is by far the most elegant and comfortable of all of our camps. It was not shown in its best light however, due to the present water level which was half the camp. There are only two rooms above the flood and that is the dining room and our personal quarters. The barracks as so huge under water that the soldiers were forced to move out at an on going building bridges and higher boards. Jan 4 Bundled Camp, Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea This day was spent in packing equipment, laundry, provisions, etc. for I have 4 boat boxes #58, 17, 3, 4 and a sail of trapes. Filmway and black food supplies are packed as well as my collecting equipment for the rest small. The radio was tested. It was found that with the transmith no minor functioned although both have been recently overhauled at Hollanda. The vibrator is out of order. They have them repaired and the set will be packed.
