Nov 12 Bela R., 18 km N Lake Halhema, Netherlands New Guinea 2200m. 90 more types, 218 rat types, 7 still types. - 1 Stenomyz #5496 1 Melonys #5504 The following was brought in by natives: 4 Melonys, 5 Rattus, 1 Portyloza, 3 Anisomys, 2 Perorycta, 3 Phaeocgal. The morning studied types and prepared specimens; the afternoon general specimens. Today the Dyal set out 22 still types in the forest/ canyon along N of camp. Weather: 6:00 - 9:00 overcast 9:00 - 14:00 fog lifting clouds with occasional low seeing. 14:00 - 18:00 overcast, rain. 18:00 - 20:00 - clear. Nov 13 Bela R., 18 km N Lake Halhema, Netherlands New Guinea 2200m. 90 more types, 218 rat types, 29 still types; - #5540 1 Melonys. The following was brought in by natives: 1 Dorsopsis, 1 Pseudorhina, 25 Rattus, 1 Mallinus, 1 Perorycta, 2 Phaeocgal, 8 Pogonomys, 1 Stromys 1 Endomysia The specimens from 9 km N Lake Halhema #5548 to 5557 was collected and prepared by A.F. Rand. The morning early studied types. The remainder of the day was spent in preparing specimens. The evening packed a box of dried skins to be taken to Halhema tomorrow. Weather 6:00 - 18:00 overcast. 10:00 - 15:00 fog clouds with occasional small seeing. 15:00 - 20:00 overcast. Last night there was a heavy rain.
