It was constructed in rather an open way in the bush just at natural places to wait for game. A day transport arrived today with supplies and equipment for the reserve mouths (2). There were 7 natives coming today. This evening the Dr. has a patient suffering with malaria. Oct 23 9 Am NE Lake Kabena, Netherlands New Guinea 2800m 198 man traps, 220 net traps, 29 stick traps - 1 Anisomyza, 2 Melomys, 1 bird, 1 Stronga (dinahd) This morning stilled traps and prepared specimens. This afternoon reset 216 net traps and 3 stick traps along the heavy forest and bend of the stream other bank. This evening watched for bats. 4 individuals saw 5 flying in the edge of the forest some 50-60 feet from the ground. On with 8 rapid flying bat about the two types. Last evening Brown heard one crawling on the roof of his tent and Rand he heard minimum (?) night wings shut the flap. It is a strong place for bats to feed. This morning and early afternoon stilled traps and prepared specimens. Late afternoon explored the stream other camp on a smooth rocky & in which to set traps for net bats.
