Oct 19 9am NE Lake Kallena, Netherlands New Guinea 2800m 205 mm traps, 220 net traps 29 stick traps. 2 Phorcusae, 2 Pogonomyes, 1 Mielings, 2 Stromeys. On through # 5187 was bought in by natives. The morning studied traps and gathered specimens. The afternoon after the rain ceased took a short stroll up the trail. I have been given the duty of buying the native gardens and finding the kitchen. The later time left in a pleasant diversion from my regular duties. This morning the small square traps and 24 of the stick traps were taken up. They were not set this afternoon because of bad weather. Weather at God permitting they will be set tomorrow. Log transport arrived today from Kallena with reserve food and collecting equipment. On collection gathered the 2 specimens and set all net traps. The dried collectors (2) and 9 sets 198 mm traps and 24 stick traps. The afternoon took a bit down the trail for about 1/2 kilometer and then into the ridge to the east. Trapping, that's signs in that vicinity now. Captain Terricks returned from Kallena with transport. 14 natives carried today.
