Fleet, Robert 1964 Turtles: Five seen: 2 at 30", 3 at 18". Bristle-thighed Curlew = 24 seen (30 - 40) Blue-faced Booby = 98 adults, 54 immature (2000 adults) Red-footed Booby = 298 adults, 103 immatures, 17 locals; est. (500) Brown Booby = Ten adults, 1 immature (25 - 30) Trigates = adult 65 roosting, 235 immature roosting (1600 include 500 imm.) Common Noddy = 2700; 300 in interior. immature young present. Sanderling = 2 Ruddy Turnstone - 18 interior (900); 250 large flocks; 600 large flocks. Golden Plover = 44 interior, six on beaches (75) Red-tailed Tropicbird = immature 5; aerial count at 1330 = 12; maybe 15 and immature on island. Wedge-tailed Shearwater = 30,000 pair; downy chicks. Central Erogrostes plain honey cumbered with burrows. Also found in scae. Fewer found in areas of morning glory type vine. Saw one chick (nestling) digging: rolls to one side dig with free foot, the rolls to other side and digs with other foot. Sooty Tern - nearly all flying young. 1600 counted (3-5000) remnants of much large colonies. Birds found sitting wide apart. Fairy Tern: 9 seen (in trees) Hawaiian Noddy = 12 seen, probably would be 100+ at night. Wandering Tattler = counted 16 on beach. Sooty Tern divided into three large areas; scattered groups at south half of island with largest group at south end. Large group near palm trees. large group at north end of island.
