Stellar Jays around scolding it - it was carrying a snake. Vaux Swift - just 2 seen. White-throated Swift - several seen around edge of valley today. Monterey Red-shafted Flicker - about 8 seen. California Woodpeckers in black oak areas. White-headed Woodpecker working trees along creek below Mirror Lake at 1 p.m. Wood Pewees - very common Western Flycatcher - 1 in shaded pine stand near Mirror Lake. Violet-green Swallows - several seen Blue-fronted Stellar Jays - most, or nearly-most common bird on valley floor. Short-tailed Mountain Chickadees - very few heard or seen. Sierra Creeper Western Mockingbird - 1 seen in apple orchard W of Government center.
