MCFADDEN'S SWAMP, CORVALLIS, OREGON

Weather - cloudy. misting.
Just passed by swamp and stopped on bridge.
Blue Heron
Canada Goose - 150 flew over. Didn't stop.
Mallard - could only see about 10 from the road.
Yellow-legs, Greater
Wilson Snipe
Red-backed Sandpiper - one with several westerns in flooded field
at first turn in road.
Western Sandpiper - as above.
Violet-Green Swallow - swallows everywhere. Must have been 200 over
the swamp area.
Tree Swallow
Cliff Swallows
FIELDS WEST OF MCFADDEN'S SWAMP same day
Ring-necked Pheasant
Crow - several isall.
Horned Lark - singing, several heard in one stop.
Robin - one along the fence row.
W. MeadowLarks
Savannah Sparrow - several along the fence perched on the wires.
Golden-crowned Sparrow - one on fence row. Might have been more.
Song Sparrows
AREA TWO MILES WEST OF SWAMP including oak hillside, cat-
tail marsh, beaver pond and maple fir forest on hill.

Weather - cloudy with intermittent misting.
Mallard - two drakes flew up out of the cat-tail marsh.
Red-tail - pair circling over rock quarry.
Sooty Grouse - hooting.
Ruffed Grouse - Betty spotted one perched about 10 feet off ground
in top of dead snag.
Ring-necked Pheasant - around the cattail marsh.
Bard-tailed Pigeon - Two perched in oak above rock quarry.
Rufous Hummingbird
Pileated Woodpecker - one rattled from firs.
Red-breasted Sapsucker - one calling from maple above the rock
quarry. Didn't know what it was and had to look it up.
Violet-Green Swallows over the cattail marsh.
Purple Martin - One over cattail marsh calling.
Bushkit - one [illegible] in spirea cattail marsh.
Slender-billed Nuthatch - one in oak above quarry.
Winter Wren - in firs.
Seattle Wren - along creek at beaver pond.
Robin
Cassin's Vireo - singing.
Lutescent Warbler - singing everywhere.
Yellow-throat - at beaver pond and cat-tail marsh and along creek.
Redwing at tree pond + cattail marsh
Evening Grosbeak - in fir-maple woods
Purple Finch - singing
Bark-crossbill - small flock flew over. Also on campus today
G.C. [illegible] - 1 near rock quarry
