March 13, 1949, Flooded fields SE of Del Paso RR siding, near Rio Linda, Sacto Co. 1425-1455, -ΓΈ/ calm, warm. A waterfowl concentration in this flooded field area just east of the RR tracks. About 1500-1600 ducks present, along with coots, etc. Pied-billed Grebe - 5 Blue Heron - 1 American Egrets - 4 Mallards - 225 Baldepates - 400 Pintails - 75 Cinnamon Teal - 50 Shovellers - 36 Canvasbacks - 350 Lesser Scaups - 290 Ruddy Ducks - 180 Vulture - 2 Marsh Hawks - 3 Sparrow Hawk - 2 Coots - 850 Tree Swallows - 7 Yellow-billed Magpie - 1 Western Crows - 29 Western Mockingbird - 1 Audubon Warblers - 15 Western Meadowlarks - 30-40 Calif. Purple Finches - 4
