May 18th at Swamp, continued: Yellow Warblers here and there Audubon Warbler - just one seen Pileolated Warbler - one singing Pacific Yellowthroats seemed to be everywhere, but they were comparatively quiet. Meadowlark singing Yellow-headed Blackbird - heard call several times, but didn't check up on it till later, at which time we could not find it. Redwing everywhere - found many nest with eggs, most in Spirea, some in Sedge. 2 nest with 4 eggs each were not over 8 feet apart. One nest empty last Saturday (May 15th) had 4 eggs this p.m. One new nest being constructed in sedge so close to a last-year's nest that the sides of the two nests were touching. Brewer Blackbirds - a few Western Tanager - in ash clumps Lazuli Bunting - had look at beautiful male in small ash tree Purple Finches singing here and there - some were immatures. Com on Goldfinch - one male seen. Oregon Towhee - a couple seen Chipping Sparrows - a couple Song Sparrows singing 49 species - 59 species total for day.
