March 6, 1948 15:00 to 17:15 Weather: Cloudy Blue Heron - 1 Canada Goose - About 2,000 Mallard - about 300 Pintail - 180 - 200 Green-winged Teal - 2,000 to 3,000, mostly at the north end. Shoveller - 75, mostly males Wood Duck - 3 or 4 flew up out of the ash [illegible] south of the horse shed. Scaup - One pair where the main swamp outlet empties into Muddy Cr. Ruddy Duck - about 4 Western Red-tail Marsh Hawk - 1 Sparrow Hawk - 1 Ring-necked Pheasant - One cock in the field east of the house. Coot - about 75 Wilson's Snipe - several, scattered. Flicker Raven - one calling Bush-tit - a flock in the ash on the east side of the main swamp. Tule Wren - calling here and there Robin - one flock Western Bluebirds Audubon Warblers Red-wings - came in around 4:00 as usual Junco's Song Sparrows Pipit - heard one flying over.
