Pantrap+skinned a.m.2 Zapus,2 Theromyctes, 3/4 Microtus,2 Sorex Vagrans,1 Sorex Howbridgii. Went to Hwacoin early p.m.Pan traps after lunch 1 Microtus,1 Sorex Vagrans.Pan traps about 4p.m.t.had the astounding total of 2 russet- backed thrushes.Set another small line in an old shed back of the house.Pan traps after supper while it was still quite light,about 7 p.m.,and found a very much alive Sorex Vagrana in one of Russell's traps.It was caught by the tail.On the way home traps saw a Bald Eagle fly from over the river across the road.Birds seen today: Western,California,t Ringbilled Gulls,Kingfisher, Winter Wren,Bewick Wren,Wintered Wren,Bar Swat- low,Redshafted Flicker,Great Blue Heron,Russet- backed Thrush,Cohin,Spotted Towhee,Song Spar- row. Aug.9. Pan traps live+skinned a.m.1 Sorex how- lidgii,1 Sorex Vagrana,2 Theromyctes,1 Microtus. Moved traps to a new location-on both sides of an old road south east of camp,in tumbles and at the bases of Sitka fir and Populus trichocarpa.Hunted chip- munks and squirrels,and shot at a snowshoe rabbit, which I squeaked out of a berry path.Birds noted: Blue Heron,Western and Ringbilled Gulls,Double-crested
