It became apparent to me that the nature of the change in the policy regarding the allocation of the funds was not entirely clear.
I had been told that the money would be used for the purchase of new equipment and supplies, but I was also informed that it would be used to pay off some of the outstanding debts of the department. This seemed to me to be a contradiction in terms, as I could not see how the same funds could be used for both purposes.
I therefore asked for clarification on this matter, and was told that the money would indeed be used for both purposes, but that the amount allocated for each purpose would be determined by the needs of the department at the time. This seemed to me to be a very unsatisfactory arrangement, as it left the department with no clear idea of what the funds would be used for.
I therefore asked for a more detailed breakdown of the proposed use of the funds, and was told that this would be provided in due course. I was also informed that the department would be holding a meeting to discuss the matter further, and that I would be invited to attend.
