Motozintla to Lago Montebello
Up at 7:00 and drove north toward Comitan after checking with "our little go angel Mexican friend". He had a smallish salamander for me, but I'm unsure of its identification - possibly a Dectotter.
We drove north thru and entry on the north of the divide. Turned east toward the Lago Montebello National Park. Worked two large limestone caves. They were not overly damp, but streams were running thru them. Very beautiful. The area around the cave seems perfect - many dormant, nothing blooming. No animals, however. Went at a dirt road toward Lago Montebello. Camped for $150 pesos at Albergue Iziscao - a small hotel much like a hostel. Walked in woods near the hotel after dark in the rain. Not good seeming habitat and no animals. Met four Europeans at the hotel and talked over dinner. Our passports were checked twice at inspection stations with no issues.
