Order Raptors Family (Hawks) N. Circus hudsonius Date Mar 30 1923 Set m. 8 1/5 Coulm. 331 Loc. Riverside Calif. Santa ana River. Incob. commenced (varying) Coll. by Elden Miller Nest on the ground in deep tules. The nest was sink 2 1/2 ft from main level of of tules and grass 14 " from the ground. Hollow about 18" across at bottom nest 14" wide. Nearly tuly of t. Nest made of tule grass and a few willow sticks. Very little cup and rather small. A small marsh potit rather dense and full of trees (willows). Bird flushed at 10 ft. Made great commotion. In morning before nest was located both birds were hunt Cooper Hawk Date Apr. 5. 1922 Set m. 7 1/4 Coulm. no. 333 Loc. Los Angeles K. Tropicco J. C. B. Calif.
