Hinkley, Mojave Desert,
Calif., nest in a cañon in bad land
country, located on a hill-
side near the bottom of
a small wash, nest
placed in a small hole
in the soft ground. Nest
material could be seen
from the wash. Nesting
cavity small; hole at entrance
also small. Bird flushed
on approach. Nest poor, made
of grass chiefly. No rocks in
nest as was found to be the
case in two nests containing
young.
