... guide found a Bolitoglossa flavimaculata under a log, and I found 3 more under the bark of logs. These appear to all be males, and are dramatically less stocky + robust than the only other one I've seen, a female from San Marcos. The cloud forest in this area is in really nice shape: a mix of pine + broadleaf trees in 2 tree forms and a thick understory. Lots of really nice bromeliads, but they were full of water as we stopped after opening 5. There were a lot of cut pine logs + boards laying around, which is where the salamanders came from.
One of the kids found a Copiula godmani that I collected, and we got a Rhadine under a log. We spent most of our time searching in the areas w/ lots of cut wood, and stopped searching at 14:00.
It had been sunny + clear in the morning but was cloudy + misty by the time we turned back. It rained in the afternoon while we prepped specimens. Went back out after dinner once the rain had mostly stopped + searched along the road out of town starting at 20:50. I found a B.f. nigrofasciata on a tree trunk ~1m off the ground in disturbed habitat and heard what I think was a Pygohylo callings. Jorge found 2 B.f. nigrofasciata in a hole in a [illegible] cement wall; we went back for frogs but couldn't get them out. These salamanders seem to thrive in disturbed habitat. We walked back on the trail to Cerro Bogomil + stopped at 2 small streams. Heard frogs at both, and I got a Electrylo (gazara?) at the second one, where we had found the Isthmophis in the morning. Got back at 00:00 and prepped specimens until 03:00. The night was misty, cloudy, + cold.
