Doval, E.H. 2005 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui, Panama June 18 We continued netting in the CCL1 area, and still had no luck catching DMs. I got some response with playbacks of PF-1 vocalizations (local & flew in) and female downwhistles (lots of down-whistling birds flew in), but the birds that responded flew high and avoided the nets. The CB's that we're catching now are well into the yearly molt, with ~ 1/2 of primaries replaced. We opened nets for [illegible] an hour in the afternoon after doing some watchs, and caught 4 birds in short order. This was the most successful netting day we've had in a while. The weather has been classically "rain season" - sunny during the day and raining for most of the night. Steve stayed home to enter data & babysit the J-1 chick ("Jesa"), who is growing well. She's preening actively & stretching often. Steve is still sick, but better than yesterday. June 19 Today was the last netting day 78-85°F for a while at CCL1/LHC. We only netted for the morning, and had little luck. In the afternoon, we all did watches.
