15 March, 10:30 and ave, family.
11a.m. Male & local pair caught and removed. See earlier notes. I reacted though within the hour, chipping repeatedly, occasional pair member went notes, moving back and forth over territory on backsides of horses. Territorial encounters with pair to north.
5:30p.m. I still chipping, now giving organized songs & chips approach around property. Repeatedly.
Second towhee caught in perch. Proved to be a 9 gram to SW. Adzard separated the territories.
Territorial encounters seen a number of times in past months. Provided by usual feeding station on north side's deck to west, with tiny gatherings attracting the towhees pair to SW.
16 March 8-10a.m. I chipping persistently and now delivering full songs. Family are again active at back yard of trees about the stock house, favoring a tall Pterocarpus for singing. Moreover, the male to SW & SW also singing. Both birds heard small threads,
