A.C. ZIEGLER 1956 JOURNAL Dec 23 (court) T.S.N, R.10W. 2 MI. W. TOMANES, 400 ft., IN MASON CO., OREGON. RUNS WERE PROOED SET TRAPS JUST ABOVE WATER ON GEARS STUBS. GOT THRY SETTING TRAPS ABOUT 7:30 P.M. (Dec 22) AND RAN THE FIRST 38 IN THE COW PASTURE, GOT 1 SORBY (VAGABOND) 6 TRAPS SET IN OPEN AROUND EDGE OF MARSH WERE NOT SERVED. TRAP LINES IN RIO; To Valley Foes TO OILCANS BEACH 1/2 MI. Big Rocks 38 TRAPS 40 TRAPS To Tomanes 2 MI. 50 TRAPS Williamstons House & Acren Camped at Big Rocks beside pasture & ran traps at 7:00 am & got 1 Lemrod & 3 Microtus cornificus (2 with small white patches) in Cow Pasture and 2 microtus in swags near ranch house. Other traps not touched apparently. Weather: Clear & cold at night, frost in A.M. At 9:00 am drove to Boober Bay & dug in shell mound below Mrs. Gaffneys fence & gate, "Gaffney" bench mark is on top of mound. Got a scraper or spear point of some sort, flint chips, part of broken mortar & some bird & mammal bones out of charcoal & shells about a foot.
