Field Trips. June 6 - 7 - Banrock Creek Swamp. 10 miles slightly North West of Pocatello. At this point on Banrock Creek, the Railroad and Highway both cross the Creeks. Excavations for road bed have left a large swamp fully five acres in extend on the south side of the R.R. track and a smaller swamp North of it. This swamp is entirely overgrown with cattail and bordered with various swamp gasses. This was where Microtus Pennsylvania had been previously taken. On this date 3 found Microtus runs in the swamp graze right at the waters edge. In fact many runs led close water an inch or less deep. Many bits of grass blades and plantain leaves were found in the runs, along with a great deal of droppings. 3 placed 42 traps in three good runs for Microtus. Along the R.R. embankment the dead grass and cattail reeds had been burned
