Banrock Creek Swamp.
10 miles slightly North West of
Pocatello.
At this point on Banrock Creek,
the Railroad and Highway both cross the
Creeks. Excavations for road bed have
left a large swamp fully five
acres in extend on the south side
of the R.R. track and a smaller swamp
North of it. This swamp is
entirely overgrown with cattail
and bordered with various swamp
gasses.
This was where Microtus
Pennsylvania had been previously
taken. On this date 3 found
Microtus runs in the swamp
graze right at the waters
edge. In fact many runs led
close water an inch or less deep.
Many bits of grass blades and
plantain leaves were found in
the runs, along with a great
deal of droppings.
3 placed 42 traps in three
good runs for Microtus. Along
the R.R. embankment the dead grass
