July 18 Tumco Mines & Mountaineer Mines (cont)
Only 1 perognathus, 2 Peromyscus and a Neotoma.
As soon as the packing was finished, about
8:30 AM we left the Tumco Mines, returned to
the "main" road and headed north. Three Mid-way
Well, Palo Verde (the country here was a treat after
the area at Tumco) and on three Blythe and
hence north on U.S. 95, just before reaching the
Riverside - San Bernardino Co. line, about 6 miles
S of Vidal we turned west off the main road
at a sign indicating the New Era Mine (= Mountaineer
mine) After driving about 0.8 mi., we parked the car

levels we encountered good numbers of Mystus
vellifer. The fifth level had very extensive tunnels
