18 June Barrow, Alaska
Several single birds were seen in the drum area and so. fit. Probably
the mate was a visit. These birds
which were seen were all feeding and
would allow a close approach (with
16 feet) of the observer.
19 June Barrow, Alaska
The displays were noted both in the
morning and afternoon. The males were
seen individually and no pair were
noted. Several conflicts were noted
where males were evidently defending
territories. No nests were found.
23 June Barrow, Alaska
Several seen along the beach ridge
and near the A.C.S. aerial displays
were used several times.
24 June Barrow, Alaska
One bird was noted displaying (in the air) and as it
landed, it continued to give its coo. One
on the ground. The tail was cocked
and the wings were raised
(to about 135° with the ground → Y)
It then strutted in this position
forward another Baird's gull which
immediately gave the wing display and then
walked off. The 1st bird followed (over)
