Russell Freebes, Zai NW Lafayette, Costa Costa Bay, Calif. 130 Oct
28 Mar that area. Noted OK/FW: PK/TL at the Birch pole E of the pond. And settled OR/FW: BL/RD at the W side of the pond. Saw and heard YL/FW: BL/PK at the territory when the 2 were taken by the hawk.
I saw the hawk again today it is a Sharp-shin not a Cooper. Nobody is regarding I say to type in YLFW's old territory altho I did hear and see what I thought was a F. She rose up out of the hemlock N of the back chair tree in the centering that territory. She responded (?) to play back.
Perhaps YL/FW left w/o mate? I saw both red FW and TL/RS in the thistle patch S of their wood pile. It appears they are feeding in that area just N of the hemlock with PK/FW. I also saw GW/FW: OK/BK in the same area he was called from the metal cyclone fence post just across the road (E) of the Malberg tree. Later with heavy (11:00) I saw his supposed mate G/FW: YL/BL at the cattail pond N of the pond ~ 70yds. She was with an incubated O who called frequently.
The OP/FW indiv I caught at the W pond side screamed when I pulled it out of the net al also when I fanneded it. Heard and saw another male up the hill N of road from electric fence plot ~ 100yds W of cattail pond. Set up net for early morning attempt on Thursday.
