7 July Barrow, Alaska
The nest was checked again at
1200 and it still contained
7 eggs. When the nest was found
yesterday, the female had been
flushed and the nest was
"lift open" (that is the eggs were visible.
This time the female was seen
down the slope away, and the
down had been brought over
the eggs, thereby concealing them
from any predators.
8 July Barrow, Alaska
A group of 15 males were seen near
Voth's Area.
13 July Barrow, Alaska
The nest was checked at 1500. The
female was incubating, and there
were still 7 eggs.
17 July Barrow Alaska
The nest still contains the 7 eggs.
18 July Barrow Alaska
The nest had hatched at 1000 and one
three young could be found in the
vicinity. They were a light gray color
with a white stripe above
the eye. The bill was bluish.
The female was not seen.
