28 June. Barrow, Alaska
A flock of 9 seen standing on a
mound on gasoline ridge.
Also three were noted just
SOUTH of the A.A.C.S.
30 June. Barrow, Alaska.
3 males seen flying over drain
area.
6 July. Barrow, Alaska
A nest was located in the
area west of the pipeline about
100 yards (due W. 1 A.A.C.S.). It
was in a dry polygon which
was covered with last year
dry brown grass. The nest
contained 47 tan or buffy colored
eggs. The nest itself was
made with down and a
few of the grasses. When the
female was flushed, she
couldn't take off, so she
flopped along on the slope
toward the lagoon. As she
did so, a Pomarine Jaeger
swooped at her and hovered
just above her. Finally she
was able to take off, and he
lost his interest and turned away
