Holmes, R. 1959 Croceithia alba 10 June Barrow, Alaska One bird seen and collected near the gas well road. It was by itself and apparently was feeding. The bird was a female. 11 June Barrow, Alaska One seen flying westward through the drum area. 13 June Barrow, Alaska A pair seen along the beach ridge road. 19 June Barrow, Alaska One seen performing the mouse run just S. of the drum area. It flushed after 15 feet and flew W. in an easterly direction. Never found. 25 June Barrow, Alaska Three birds were seen in the flat marshy tundra between the beach ridge and Elson Lagoon. Two seemed to be paired, as one was close by. The paired male was displaying (annually) from 1400 to 1600 (the time we spent in the area). The display is a typical Erolia-type. The bird flies into the air to a height of 30-40 feet and hovers there an [illegible]
