Remsen, J.V. 1978 Yellow-billed Loon Gavia adamsii Monterey Bay boat trip [cont] Feb.12 of critical observation, but soon after became decidedly [cont] uncooperative. The only other large-billed loon, the Common, has an all dark culmen, lacks the auricular patch, when the bill is pale it is grayish not yellow, etc.
