White-eyed Vireo
Vireo griseus
Pt. Reyes [cont]
May 19 while wingbars on darker wings and grayish on
the back, at least at the neck region [I know the
back is supposed to be greenish, but I couldn't see this
on last year's bird under similar, poor observation
and shape
conditions]. The overall size of the bird was about
that of Hutton's Vireo. - small, chunky, and round-headed
with large, hooked bill.
I know of no other bird in western hemisphere with
a conspicuous yellow forehead, 2 white wingbars,
whitish throat, yellow breast+sides+flanks, and white
center of belly
