Comments: last night the following birds were observed feeding at night on Newport Bay between 1930 and 2230 on an outgoing tide: Great Blue Heron (1) (actively fishing), Black-crowned Night Heron (1), N. Shoveler (100+), N. Pintail (2+), Long-billed Curlew (3), Marbled Godwit (2), Am. Avocet (300), dowitcher (sp) (30) - except for the two herons, these species rely more on touch than vision to secure food - no diving birds, coots, gulls, terns, or plovers were noted. Moon not particularly bright - half full.
