This bird was feeding on algae on a log that formed a low bridge over the only way to cross the creek.
The bird sat about 1800 feet away and close to shore. The bird flew off as I approached it from behind, but not before I could see its bright yellow beak and red eye ring. It was feeding on algae in the water.
It then flew about 20 feet to a log about 30 feet away and sat facing me. The bird was slightly obscured by vegetation but still visible. It had six white tail feathers and a black crown with a white stripe through it.
The bird was found down near North Beach at Et-Reles where sand dunes ~500 yards inland from beach - new
north of FDP on state beach located in please-covered
