Remsen, J.V. 1974 Field Note Policy Species Account policy: - enter first observation of each species for 1974 for [each state visited] - afterwards only noteworthy occurrences as to distribution, abundance, time of year, habitat, or behavior not previously observed by me for common species. For rare species, every observation will be entered. All observations of all birds of prey are entered (except Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Marsh Hawk, Am. Kestrel, Great Horned Owl) and toa h.o. = heard only - not seen (s) - singing BP - breeding plumage NBP - non-breeding plumage Journal policy - - columned species lists plus full journal descriptions of weather and area written only in areas in which a defined block of time was spent and some estimate of numbers could be obtained - in localities visited briefly or in which no numbers could be estimated, a list of species is written out in paragraph style. If only species which had not been previously seen at some other locality that day are noted, the locality name is preceded by a " +". - I have attempted to list every species seen every day but occasional days have been left out completely when nothing significant had been seen and I had gotten a day behind and was not able to remember what had been seen [illegible]
