196/1 Reiser Feb.28 put 87 Sherman in Orinda Pasture at 5 p.m. Quite a few mustelids running. Mustard not flowering yet. Grass only medium height. Feb.29 at 8 a.m.: 1 Sorex, 4 Mus, 13 Reithro and 15 Mustelids. Seven Miko giventa Ovay. 3 of the Reithros were tagged ones and were light, others tagged and released. Only one baby mika. The males in breeding condition. Of 3 adults 1 ?, two of them/preg (6+5 embryos) and one recently parturient, all with excessive numbers of large corpora lutea. Marh 6 72 Sherman in Orinda Pasture and north, 5 p.m. considerable mustard in bloom. march 7 at 8 a.m. traps held 1 Sorex, 14 Reithro (only 2 of them ?f), 1 mus, and 14 mike (5 dead). Tagged + released Reithros. [Mikes 2 breeding 8's, 1 preg adult ?, 1 parous ?, 1 preg? jun.7. put 59 traps in pasture(center) at 5 p.m. march 8 at 8 a.m. traps held 9 Reithro, 5 mus, and 7 mika. 3 of the mike dead (1 breeding ? and 2 adult parous ?f with lots of CL). mar.20 88 Sherman in left side of Pasture at 5 p.m., no oat seeds yet. march 21 Lots of frost (as on most deer nights to date). Traps held 20 mustelids, 0 Mus, [10] Reithros. 5+ of the Reithro already tagged. None of 3 ?f Reithros had open vagina. Of the mustelids dead in traps: 1 jun. about 15 g., 6 males all breeding, 2 lactating females with brown embryos 5 and 6, 1 parous ? late/preg 7 foetuses. Effer corpora lutea in all.
