Oct.4 at 7 a.m. traps held 37 mice, 10 Rethos, and 2 Meriones. Total 49. Picked up. at 4 p.m. put 89 Sherman and 90 museum specials in Tilden Park, mostly triangle, same line as last 14. The sherman baited with oatmeal, the m's with corn meal and set within 3 feet of each Sherman, sometimes alongside it. Oct.5 curious warm night, partly cloudy, sprinkles during day. museum specials Shermans Total Rethos 40 37 77 mice 10 9 19 Beromys 1 5 6 Meriones 1 0 1 103 The crop-trapped mice were already stirring at 10 a.m. many caught by tail & still alive. Many museum specials spring-empty. Released Pero but left all others. Left traps out. Oct.6. Some rain (first of this season) during afternoon yesterday and night. Light rain until about 11 a.m. Traps held 7 Gerbovines, 1 Microtus, 9 Beromys, 23 mice, and 27 Rethos. Kept mice and Rethos. Left traps out. Oct.7 26 Rethos, 14 mice, 11 Beromys, 1 Meriones, and 1 Song Sparrow. Total 54 mice. Moved traps at 4-5 p.m. to lower fire break. 88 Shermans and 80 museum specials set in Paris.
