Feb.19 50 large Sherman baited with oatmeal in the pasture at Orinda, more along Fitzgerald fence or southern half of upper fence. Good cover, some mustard blooming, some Microtus running and cuttings. 3 P.M.
Feb.20 at 8 a.m. traps held 2 Minks, 4 Rattles, and 12 Mice. Many others had been visited by Mice (and Rattles?).
Feb.23 Put 35 small Sherman (oatmeal) in pasture at 4 p.m. along NW fence and parallel to it but 10 yds south.
Feb.24 at 8 a.m. had 1 Microtus, 4 Rattles, and 19 Mice at 5 p.m. same live, 1 Microtus, 3 Rattles, and 19 mice left traps some place.
Feb.25 at 8 a.m. had 11 Rattles, 1 Sorex and 20? Mice at 4 p.m. had 2 Rattles and 8 Mice. Picked up Sherman and laid out (4 p.m.) a Calburn line from the Howard's chapel to the Fitzgeralds drive near Strong house. 60 Mouse specimens in sets of 3 at 20-yard intervals, peanut butter bait.
Feb.26 Run "Calburn" at noon: 1 Mink +2 released, 6 Rattles, and 9 Mice. No Mice at the SW end of the line, most near the NW fence of the pasture, and not many near the Fitzgeralds! Cool, scattered cloudiness.
