Reaser 1969 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co. Oct.31 With zoo 207 class at the 3 Calburn lince beginning at 3 p.m., weather warm, has been 0.3" rain so far, moon about half. No good microtoma signs while setting. no dew on grass. Nov.1 Ran traps at 7:30 a.m. chaparral -> 3 maniculatus, 1 worn, 1 wren tit, 1 brown towhee, 1 Vestorna while fiske loose and escaped while traps was being picked up. Meadow line 1 spring empty. Oaks spring empties at no.17. Ran traps at 4 p.m. - walking grass. Nov.2 Weather clear, no dew. In A.M. Chaparral -> 1 turesi, 1 Reithro, Meadow -> 1 perograthus and 1 Reithro, 1 spring empty. Oaks -> 1 perograthus, 3 spring empty at no.17. Nothing in P.M. Saw fischer and smaller crossbills (until?) emerge together from middle of Chanise, fly to stub out land within 6 feet of rockholter, then return to Chanise. Nov.3 Cloudy. No dew on grass. At 7 a.m traps took; chaparral -> 1 maniculatus, 2 turesi, 1 wren-tit. Meadow -> 1 perograthus, 1 maniculatus, all 3 traps gone from #18. Oaks -> 2 spring at no.17. Total, 3 nights: Chaparral Meadow Oaks 3 turesi 1 maniculatus 1 perograthus 1 Reithro 1 Reithro 1 Vestorna 2 perograthus 4 maniculatus 4 birds Checked all acorn buckets on Nov.2; no acorns and none seen on overhanging oaks. 1 bucket with a very dead Peromypcus and one with a live, young Sclorformis (dead).
