1968 O.P. Oct 4 To Yosemite with family. At 10:30 pm set 60 museum traps baited with corn meal through mixed pine woods about 6000 ft 2 miles SE Crane Flat (yellow sugar pine, fir, cedar). Full moon. Oct 5 Caught 5 Peromyscus maniculatus and 1 thrush. Wally Davis said he had seen about 50 Peromyscus cross the road 2 weeks ago between Crane Flat and the Valley. at 4 pm put 30 Sherman traps with rolled oats near the Tamarack flat campground. Mostly fur & lodgepole, Oct-6 Traps held 3 Leucamaniculatus, 1 chipmunk, and 1 Sorex. Oct 25 Grass in Ouida is up about 2 inches. Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co. nov 1 at 3:30 set Calhoun lines (museum species with peanut butter) x almost no green grass yet. Light overcast, moon 4/5. No fresh Mistelina runs seen, nov 2 At 7 am meadow line had 5 maniculatus and 2 emity; chaparral line bed 1 ferret thrush (in no 3), 4 +2 mostly straw, and 2 maniculatus; oak woods had nothing although all 3 traps at 17 were spring. Morning overcast with a few sprinkles, afternoon light rain. Renewed traps at 3 p.m., nothing in them, although several spring by rain, nov 3 Considerable rain overnight (0.9 inches). Rain traps at 7 a.m. one true; in chaparral, 3 maniculatus in meadow, nothing in oaks. Renewed acorns from the geology cars along the oak line. Only # 14 and 15, both under same big tree, had any acorns-
