1968 earth watching us, resting and scratching himself. After about 40 minutes he wandered off and was met by another badger 20 or 30 yards away. Both of them started digging a single hole and after about 5 minutes it was deep enough so that one of them was all the way down it and the second one was disposing of the dirt being excavated by the first one (tandem work). June 10 Rain traffic at 5:15 a.m., night clear, dew in valley but not heavy. Oak woodland traffic no mice, more spring. Meadow 1 spring, 1 Pers manic, 1 mecothre. Chaparral 1 spring, 1 Dipso, The hole at which the badger was digging had a big fresh earth pile in front of it; the hole went in about 3 feet then turned left. Scots: all the carnivore scats seen in 3 days would not have added up to 2 qts, probably not even 1 qt. Carol had a grizzly bear for in the chaparral. Summary of 7 nights: Chaparral -> 7 times, 1 manic, 5 Dipso, 3 birds. Meadow -> 11 mecothre, 8 maniculating, 1 Rether. Oak 1 maniculating.
