(1 Sorah/pacificus and about 8 Peromyscus), 12 minutes (1 Sorah pacificus and about 6 Peromyscus), 2:30 (1 Sorah townsendii and 1 S. vocans or townsendii plus about 6 Pero), and at 5:15 a.m. (about 5 Peromyscus). The Pero were released at time of collection expected for about 10 of the earlier ones. Oct-14 Pitched up same line at about 9 a.m., no more there. Half of the traps were baited (alternately) with rolled oats and half with rolled oats plus siphonace oil. At 10:30 p.m. when going to re-baiting with straight oats, we stuffed corn; the score was about 15 to 16. Left at noon and drove to mouth of Elk Creek 2 mi. SSE Elk where we set traps in grassy-weeping meadow meadow bordered by blackberry, thimbleberry, alders, squawroot, thistle, nettles etc. Numerous Muscardine running when we set at 1:30 p.m. Ran traps about 3:30 and had 1 Sorah vocans and 2 big mice. Ran traps every 2 1/2 hrs and caught large numbers of Peromyscus maniculatus (about 10-15 each run), a few Batherson, and a few mice plus one more Sorah vocans dead in the trap. Oct 15. Pitched up traps about 8 a.m. and set in two saw-grass buck-grass areas near Altman and Weberina. Caught many Muscardine (about 8) in one of the places with about 25 traps, but no shrews (set between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)
