total = 3 Rattus, 1 mibe, 1 Sourf,
Note that in spite of the very low mouse density, at least 2 cats and 1 racoon are still working on the area. Saw no cati today
Finished picking up seats = 1 1/2 gallons total
They contain 107 mibe, 34 Rattus, 18 gophers, 1 bird,
2 herps, 1 rabbit, 3 Peromyscus and 0 mice.
Feb. 10 Picked up seats on area at noon. Sunny, cold, windy.
Saw 1 dark cat on area. A fair number of gopher digging.
Feb. 15 Finished picking up seats. Clear cool. No cats seen,
total 0.7 gallons. Contents: 26 mice, 9 Rattus, 10 gophers,
1 neotoma, 2 Sours, 1 herp, a few crickets.
Feb 28 6 rabbits along driveway at one time. Almond tree just beginning to bloom.
March 8 Picked up seats on southern half of Tiller area. No cats seen. Red-tails. 15 sets of fresh gopher digging seen along these trails.
March 11 Picked up seats along southern half of area. 2 red-
tails, dear, 1 white cat, 21 gophers. Total gophers =
15 + 21 = 36; a bare minimum, of course, since these are counted only along trails. Still mole workings at the same place at lower edge of area (southwest of sequoia).
These have been there every year, yet only one has
been found in seats. Total March 8+11 = 3/4 gallon,
but haven't done around sequoias yet.
