Learson 1966 jan. 11 drove past my tidden area with victor galea the argentine botanist. saw 2 doelcate on the area. jan. 12 set colburn lines at 3 p.m., sunny. saw 2 cats on the area: 1 very dark one, the other large & fluffy? not doele, but no details. One deer, 3 red-tails courting over the area, at home there are numerous fumble rabbits. Sometimes 4 or 5 run across the drive as I drive down. The gum tree has lost only about half its leaves so far. lots of frost. During the December cold weather the ground was frozen solidly in various shady spots below the tennis court. jan. 13 clear, frost in Orida but not in Tidden. Colburn lines held. 1 Leather on lower line. nothing else, about 6 spring entity. saw no cats. Pheasant trails along lower trail and about half way up the hill. The amount of "cover" is probably near minimum at this season; the new growth is not tall enough to "cover" and the old dry stalks are rotting away rapidly, Saw only a few fresh runways while setting the colburn lines, and no droppings. Picked up seats. I'm PM (sunny) nothing in traps. Saw 1 or maybe 2 black cats. jan. 14. morning sunny. frost in Orida, not in Tidden. 1 leather in lower line. saw no cats. Didn't run traps in pm, jan. 15 morning sunny. Picked up traps: 1 leather in lower line and 1 fox and 1 adult vivetina in upper line.
