any thistles, almost all mustard, much of my girl area is this year pure mustard, about 6 ft. tall. In the middle of this sea of mustard are occasional rounds a few feet in diameter where avena has grown up and been cut down by mice, leaving "stumps" and clean earth. My two enclosures have been entered by mice. The lower one, in grass (but little oats), is about the same inside as out, except inside is one bunch, none outside. The upper enclosure, surrounded by pure mustard, contains some mustard and about 20 big avena stalks (several of which have been cut). This is the only area for yards around. June 3 Ran walks at 7:30 a.m. 13 mice/otter (more tiny, several big qq but only one with open nostrils), 4 bantam (39 than young of year), and 1 mus.
